Island Bees

Took a long time

It’s hard when you get older and don’t want to get rid of stuff. About 6 months ago we went to this mans house and took bees from a stack of tires in the back yard. When we poured them into the nuc it looked like a waterfall. Then the man calls me and says he has bees in his storage bin. I got there and saw there would be some moving to do before I could get to them. Then when I opened the bin the bees had attached to the top like I expected, but the comb came loose and fell to the bottom. I didn’t want to move any of the boxes because I wasn’t sure they wouldn’t fall apart. Got all the comb and brood into a nuc, but the bees just didn’t want to move into it. It took a long time for them to calm down and get off the side of the bin, I even kept scooping them.
